Homebuyers Girl’s Room

Hey everyone,

First of all I wanted to thank you for all the love and messages on my previous post. It was really comforting knowing other women could relate in one way or another. So thank you, I was heart warmed by each comment and private message.

Today I’m going to share some really cute images from the girl’s bedroom I recently completed in the Homebuyers Centre ‘Norfolk’ display home. This room is super sweet and if you’re in Perth you can check it out in person at 4 Quinn Street (off Farrell Road) in Midvale. The opening hours are:

Monday and Wednesday 2pm – 5pm

Saturday and Sunday 12pm – 5pm

It’s a beautiful 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home design, with an open plan living area, theatre, kid’s zone and large alfresco area. I have kept the furniture and decor selections light and bright with a fairly neutral colour palette and the occasional pop of blush. If you want some inspiration or are looking at building your first home, head over to Homebuyers Centre for all the details on how you could receive an interior styling consult with me. Whoooop!

The girl’s bedroom is probably one of my favourite rooms because I love the blush, white and soft blue colour palette. The warm and cool tones work beautifully together and it creates something different, in comparison to the very popular blush and white scheme for a little girl. I will admit the soft blue product is quite hard to find so I will upload a ‘Shop the Look’ concept further down, with easy shopping links so you can find a majority of the product I have used. If something is sold out online, you may want to contact the store directly and see if it’s in stock somewhere close by because this job was bought and installed only a month ago (sometimes online sells out quicker than in store.)

Often I get asked where I ‘start’ when designing/styling a kid’s room and usually my answer is the art or wallpaper. In this case it was the Sara Winfield art but I also wanted a subtle wallpaper that didn’t take away from the print. I locked in a neutral star wallpaper from Wall Candy (in Perth) but the next step was to find a couple of other prints that complimented the Sara artwork nicely. I approached Little Design Haus to customise her ‘Scandinavian Flowers’ set, changing out the grey for blue. I adore the finished product and they work beautifully opposite the Sara art. From there, I hunted for blush and soft blue decor/bedding to create balance in this magical little space.

I also wanted to hang a canopy off center to create interest and fill the wall space a little more. I decided to break away from the usual brand I use and try a Spinkie Baby design. Oh my gosh, it’s so soft and pretty. Perfect if you’re wanting to create a dreamy girl’s bedroom or play area. You can choose either a gold or silver crown, or leave it off completely, so it’s quite a versatile styling piece. The Australian stockist is listed further down in the ‘Shop the Look’ section.

To keep costs down and work within my allocated budget I used affordable furniture and focused on spending more on cute decor/ styling pieces. The desk is from Adairs and the bed is from Fantastic Furniture (links below) so I thought these were great little finds that really helped me stay within my fairly tight budget. By watching what I spent on the large ticket items, I was able to buy some cool books from Jack and Willow as well as some gorgeous bedding from various stores below.

Well I better get linking all the product because it will be fairly long. If you have any questions or if I have left something out, feel free to comment below and I’ll answer asap 🙂 Oh and make sure if you’re in Perth you go check it out in person.

Much Love,

T xx

Layer Up- 10 Lovely Throws

Happy Monday!

With winter fast approaching it’s time to layer up those beds, lounges and occasional chairs with some beautiful throws, don’t you think? I personally love the cooler months and more so that I get to create warm, cosy rooms within our home. One of the best ways to create warmth in your interior is to introduce a blanket or throw, but with so many to choose from, it can be overwhelming. This is where I come in! Today I want to share my favourite 10 throws available at your closest Vicinty Centre. You can find your nearest store here.

Personally I don’t ever style a bed or lounge without some sort of throw, especially in autumn/ winter. It can be a chunky knit, thin linen throw or even a sheepskin hide- anything to add another layer and texture to the space… I have even styled a hide on our dining room bench. It doesn’t stay there when we eat but I love the way it softens the hard lines of the wood and creates a warm, cosy setting. Imagine the below picture without one! The entire space just wouldn’t look as nice.

Anyway, I made it my mission to find you 10 beautiful throws from Vicinity Centres, just in time for winter. I’m going to apologise in advance though because I’m really struggling to narrow them down. 10 may become 15, or 20 very easily! So, what I will do is showcase my faves from various retailers in various price points… some budget friendly and some more expensive. Oh and I’ll quickly just mention that so many stores are having awesome sales at the moment, which was even more dangerous!… Like I need an excuse to buy more linen!

Here is my top 10:

  2. Jumbo cable knit, Marshmallow || Myer || Available In Store
  3. Bombay quilted velvet throw, Rose || Adairs || Shop Here
  4. Casbah throw, Mustard || Adairs || Shop Here
  5. VUE Hayley throw, Cameo rose || Myer || Shop Here
  6. Hayden throw, White || Myer || Shop Here
  7. Archer blanket, Marshmallow || Country Road || Shop Here
  8. Edin blanket, Multi || Country Road || Shop Here
  9. Sheepskin, Blush || Adairs || Shop Here
  10. Horizontal double rib throw || West Elm || Shop Here
  11. Nora tassel throw, Tan || Cotton On Home || Shop Here
  12. Lili textured throw, Blush || Cotton On Home || Shop Here

Okay, so I couldn’t narrow it down to just 10 because they’re all different and beautiful in their own way! Whether you want to layer with a chunky knit, sheepskin, velvet, waffle or cotton weave, that list seriously has you covered! There are so many gorgeous textures and warm colours to have a look at and I hope you like my selections. Have fun shopping and creating some warm, cosy layers in your home this winter.

Much Love,

T xx

PS- I have my eye on #11 and at $25.00 I should just buy it now, shouldn’t I?

A magical Christmas in our home

To say I am excited about Christmas this year is a total understatement. I’m not going to lie, the past few years I have been a complete Grinch and really didn’t get into the spirit of decorating. Obviously Christmas is about celebrating love, reflecting on the past year, eating great food and laughing with family and friends but I also believe some of the magic and sparkle stems when you start decorating your tree and home.

This year Chet is at a beautiful age where he understands a bit more about Christmas and gets excited about the pretty lights, decorations and pressies. He is also old enough this year to get involved in the decorating process and that is what I am really excited about. I put on my super mum undies and took him to our closest Vicinity Centre so we could do a huge Christmas shop. I’m talking a new tree, fairy lights, decorations, wrapping paper, Xmas day outfits, Xmas gifts, a huge delicious ham and of course I ended up buying multiple toys for Chet – a little bribery along the way.

I really wanted to achieve a modern take on the “Traditional Christmas” style to suit our living room decor. I stuck with a mainly white / metallic / red colour palette and used mercury glass tree decorations to introduce classic details. I also styled some rustic logs to help add charm and my big “must have” was sparkle. Lots of fairy lights adorn the tree that creates a magical and festive corner in our home.

We put up our new tree over the weekend and every evening since, Chet has said “mumma light on.” I thought he meant our normal ceiling lights at first until he dragged me over to the power point. Too cute! To me that is the meaning of Christmas. Seeing your little love’s face light up when the Christmas tree sparkles is just so heart warming. His smile and the expression on his face makes me reflect on how much he has grown the past year and how lucky Shaun and I are to have such a gorgeous blessing in our life.

I’m not going to tell you how to “style your tree” because I think it is a personal celebration to enjoy with your loved ones. However if you want to add a little more sparkle to your home (or your tree) this Chrissy, I have created a shopping list below of where to find the items we purchased over the weekend. You can locate your closest Vicinity Centre here.

To win, simply submit a photo of your most inspiring and creative Christmas lights display at addalittlesparkle.com.au. A $5,000 prize pool is up for grabs, to help you make your Christmas shine.

Well that’s me for today. I hope you all have an incredible love-filled December surrounded by special people and apologies in advance for the Christmas spam on insta. Shaun says I’ve gone a little crazy.

Much love,

T xx
