The Nalu, Eden Beach Estate

Hi everyone,

I’m super excited to showcase one of my recently completed projects today. The Nalu display home by Homebuyers Centre is located in Eden Beach, Alkimos and this house design has already received so much love! With wall-to-wall dual ensuite vanities and double showers, open plan kitchen, dining, living and multipurpose room, spacious theatre and walk in pantry- it has all the essentials and so much more. While we wait for professional photography I thought it would be a great opportunity to show you my favourite room in the house and provide some budget-friendly decor inspiration, based off the Nalu’s modern coastal interior style!

The multi-purpose room is my absolute favourite space in the Nalu for a few key reasons! Firstly, the cut out opening in the wall visually connects this room to the kitchen, main living and dining area. It is such a great feature if you have (or are planning) a family in the future. Children don’t like feeling ‘left alone’ to play, read or complete homework in a separate room, so this allows them to feel included and safe when you’re cooking, unpacking groceries, stacking the dishwasher or prepping snacks. By having the opening start at 14courses high, it allows furniture to be placed against the brickwork which maximises functional space.

Secondly, the sliding door feature that opens up onto the alfresco is really beneficial as well. It makes the room feel spacious and allows so much natural sunlight to stream into the whole open plan living area. Easy access to the backyard is always handy as well, especially when entertaining with friends and family.

Thirdly, I have decorated the multipurpose room as a fun space that both adults and children can work, play, read and relax in, but the possibilities are endless. It can be easily styled based on how you will personally enjoy using the space, think- full office, home gym or pilates studio, gaming room, guest bedroom with sofa bed, kid’s playroom. You can even make it into an additional bedroom by adding a door and keeping all walls full height (with no cut out.)

Boho Palm Decals by BlondNoir in Sage, Olive and Bronze.

If you like the way I have styled the Nalu multipurpose room, here are some suppliers and products that will help you re-create this design in your own home! I love that we have achieved a built-in look, using budget-friendly items to produce a room that appeals to the whole family and that flows seamlessly with the rest of the modern coastal fitout. Happy Shopping!

I love styling all my projects with a mixture of affordable home decor items, alongside some unique and pricer key features. It helps me achieve a fuller and cosier looking home without breaking the bank, and instead I can spend more on statement items like artwork, wallpaper or lighting. I have curated a collection of my favourite 20 Kmart products that are influenced by the Nalu’s refreshing palette, earthy textures and modern coastal interior style below. Margot Girl’s Room

Good morningggg,

Following on the back of my last post I wanted to share with you all the sweet details of mini Margot’s bedroom. We wanted to stay cohesive with the home’s modern luxe interior style but also introduce younger elements that can easily transition from primary to teenage years. To do this without changing the entire room we kept the base foundation very neutral and then introduced pretty gold details and pops of colour in the decor, art and bedding.

The feature paint is a lovely warm grey tone that is suitable for all ages and genders. It’s called Wattyl Signal Station and it pairs beautifully with the Wattyl Floral White internal wall paint featured throughout the Margot. It’s a great, affordable option that creates a subtle visual impact and the look can be further elevated with the introduction of contrasting spot or star wall decals like these.

In addition to the neutral wall colour, I also specified transitional pendants, bedsides, storage and furniture. This means that they can easily adapt with different trends, styles, colour palettes and kid’s interests making them awesome options to ensure you’re getting the most out of your purchases. The headboard cover can even be taken off to wash and keep fresh, or swapped over to a different fabric (without changing the headboard itself.) Check out the upholstery options below, ranging from King single to King size beds.

Juno Slipcover headboard and covers by Black Mango.

Another handy tip

is to frame wall art and posters yourself, instead of buying them as a framed option.

This allows you to swap the poster inside and update the space as your child’s interests/ hobbies evolve. Repurposing the frame not only saves money, it generally saves you on shipping charges too (as the unframed print comes in a lightweight tube) PLUS you won’t have to drill new holes in the wall- winning! Urban Road have a lovely range of artwork suitable for all ages available and my go-to retailers for store bought frames are Target, Spotlight and Freedom.

Homebuyers Centre have kindly allowed to me share the details of suppliers and stores so you can easily shop the look and create this sweet space in your own home. It’s always such a joy when I can offer these boards free of charge to visitors of my website, so feel free to click on the links below and shop the featured products before they sell out!

Homebuyers Girl’s Room

homebuyersGIRLS.png

Hey everyone,

First of all I wanted to thank you for all the love and messages on my previous post. It was really comforting knowing other women could relate in one way or another. So thank you, I was heart warmed by each comment and private message.

Today I’m going to share some really cute images from the girl’s bedroom I recently completed in the Homebuyers Centre ‘Norfolk’ display home. This room is super sweet and if you’re in Perth you can check it out in person at 4 Quinn Street (off Farrell Road) in Midvale. The opening hours are:

Monday and Wednesday 2pm – 5pm

Saturday and Sunday 12pm – 5pm

It’s a beautiful 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home design, with an open plan living area, theatre, kid’s zone and large alfresco area. I have kept the furniture and decor selections light and bright with a fairly neutral colour palette and the occasional pop of blush. If you want some inspiration or are looking at building your first home, head over to Homebuyers Centre for all the details on how you could receive an interior styling consult with me. Whoooop!

The girl’s bedroom is probably one of my favourite rooms because I love the blush, white and soft blue colour palette. The warm and cool tones work beautifully together and it creates something different, in comparison to the very popular blush and white scheme for a little girl. I will admit the soft blue product is quite hard to find so I will upload a ‘Shop the Look’ concept further down, with easy shopping links so you can find a majority of the product I have used. If something is sold out online, you may want to contact the store directly and see if it’s in stock somewhere close by because this job was bought and installed only a month ago (sometimes online sells out quicker than in store.)

Often I get asked where I ‘start’ when designing/styling a kid’s room and usually my answer is the art or wallpaper. In this case it was the Sara Winfield art but I also wanted a subtle wallpaper that didn’t take away from the print. I locked in a neutral star wallpaper from Wall Candy (in Perth) but the next step was to find a couple of other prints that complimented the Sara artwork nicely. I approached Little Design Haus to customise her ‘Scandinavian Flowers’ set, changing out the grey for blue. I adore the finished product and they work beautifully opposite the Sara art. From there, I hunted for blush and soft blue decor/bedding to create balance in this magical little space.

I also wanted to hang a canopy off center to create interest and fill the wall space a little more. I decided to break away from the usual brand I use and try a Spinkie Baby design. Oh my gosh, it’s so soft and pretty. Perfect if you’re wanting to create a dreamy girl’s bedroom or play area. You can choose either a gold or silver crown, or leave it off completely, so it’s quite a versatile styling piece. The Australian stockist is listed further down in the ‘Shop the Look’ section.

To keep costs down and work within my allocated budget I used affordable furniture and focused on spending more on cute decor/ styling pieces. The desk is from Adairs and the bed is from Fantastic Furniture (links below) so I thought these were great little finds that really helped me stay within my fairly tight budget. By watching what I spent on the large ticket items, I was able to buy some cool books from Jack and Willow as well as some gorgeous bedding from various stores below.

Well I better get linking all the product because it will be fairly long. If you have any questions or if I have left something out, feel free to comment below and I’ll answer asap 🙂 Oh and make sure if you’re in Perth you go check it out in person.

Much Love,

T xx

Repainted FROSTA Stools

Chet's Desk Blog.png

Happy Thursday everyone!

Today we were supposed to go and catch up with some awesome Perth girls but Chet woke up with a sore ear so we stayed home and got our craft on instead. We repainted the FROSTA stools from Ikea for Chet’s little desk area and they look soooo cute! They instantly brighten up this corner and tie everything together.

I didn’t take any progress shots (sorry) because I wasn’t expecting them to turn out nicely BUT they look so much cooler than I thought they would. Thinking back now I probably should have primed them but they still turned out beautifully… and I’m not a DIY guru so I can’t tell the difference. I literally just wiped them down and painted straight over the top and they look (and feel) fine.

linebreak

Here is a list of what we used, including the paint colours:

Two Stools || Shop Here

Paint Sample Pots || Dark Teal || Light Sage

Sample Pot Roller || Click Here

38mm Angled Paint Brush || Shop Here

linebreak

Here’s how we painted them:

I stood the legs on four mugs so it was easier to paint the bottom of the legs. I used the paint brush to do one leg at a time. I roughly covered it in paint and then put another layer on with the mini roller (to get a smoother finish.) The angled brush helps you paint the underneath side of the legs much better.

I did all four legs, then flipped it over and painted the underneath. I didn’t roll this part.

I then stood the stool back on the mugs while I painted the top and rim with the brush, then the roller (like I did with the legs.)

I waited an hour for them to dry and then repeated the process once more.

linebreak

There you go, super easy and as I said above, I’m not a DIY genius so I didn’t bother priming them. If you want them to last longer it’s probably a good idea to prime them before painting.

Anyway, while I was painting those two stools, Chet was decorating a miniature one I bought him. I actually love it. He’s done such a great job for an ‘almost’ three year old.

What do you think? Do you love the blue tones? More importantly has Chet done a better job than me? Haha I agree! His has personality and sentimental value.

Much Love,

My Favourite 10 Cots

2.png

Happy Monday everyone.

A couple of months ago I posted about my favourite Children’s beds and I had a lot of great feedback from it. Quite a few people requested a similar post listing my favourite cots, so over the past few weeks I have compiled a collection of cot/bassinet designs that are available on the Australian market. They are listed below with easy shopping links for all the mumma’s needing a new cot or wanting to update their baby’s old one.

I have also tried to find beautiful images to represent each design so please have a squizz at the photo sources at the end of this blog post. I hope you love them as much as I do.

The stunning Kalon Studios ‘Caravan Crib’ is one of my favourite cots! It has a simple yet classic design which oozes style and is suitable for either gender!… Oh and the best part is that you can take the front rail off (or all four rails) and convert it into an adorable toddler bed.

The Oeuf NYC ‘Sparrow Cot’ comes in a few different colours including white, grey and birch. I love using Oeuf NYC products because the quality is great and you can pair it back with other furniture in the sparrow range.

JESSICA HANSON.png

The Leander cot has been in the spotlight for a few years now, however, it is clear to see why! The shape and overall design gives such a sleek Scandinavian feel. It can be easily converted into a toddler bed and an additional extension kit/mattress can be purchased so that the toddler bed becomes a Junior size bed. With 5 different configurations available, it is an investment piece you will have for many years.

Oh Gosh, I just had to include this gorgeous bassinet from Byron Bay Hanging Chairs. It would be a crime not to, right? The shape, material, size, everything…. even the wheels are so beautiful. The convenience of having wheels on a bassinet is so handy when bub is a newborn, especially if you feed in another room. Eg I fed Chet in our Theatre room, burped, then put him to sleep and wheeled him back into our room.

The Oeuf ‘Rhea Cot’ is one of my favourite cots because it incorporates both wood and white tones in one design. It works perfectly back with other Oeuf products and has a classic/ timeless shape. It can also convert into a toddler bed if you purchase the additional conversion kit.

If you love the above cot, but want something a little more feminine looking the Baby Letto ‘Lolly Cot’ will be right up your ally. It features the wood/white contrast but with a more delicate leg design. There are also black/ timber and grey/ timber colour options available- all at a great price!!!

While we are on the topic of girly cots, the ‘Blythe Crib’ from Pottery Barn Kids is the epitome of feminine. The detailing in the wood, the upholstery, buttons and tufts, even the colour ‘Vintage Grey’ is stunning.

The ‘Ava Cot’ from Plyroom has so many incredible details. The entire unit is made from sustainably forested European Birch ply which means there are no MDF components or metal fixings. Not only can it be converted into a toddler bed, it can also transform into a children’s desk! Genius!!

The ‘Sniglar Cot’ from IKEA is the most affordable and versatile design I have featured in this post. At only $119AUD you really cannot go wrong with this simple solid beech cot. You will get plenty of inspo if you type it into Pinterest, including projects where people have painted the rails to suit their nursery palette.

Stokke.png

The ‘Sleepi Bed’ by Stokke is another popular design among expecting mums. The shape gives an unconventional look and the canopy is oh-so-cute. As I mentioned above, I found wheels super handy when Chet was a baby…  My best friend actually has this bassinet/ cot and I know she loves the convenience of the wheels too.

My second bassinet feature goes to the gorgeous ‘Macrame Bassinet’ from Olli Ella. If you’re a fan of vintage/ boho style, you need to check this one out. It is a beautiful design that could easily be incorporated into either a boy, girl or gender neutral nursery.

The ‘Georgia Cot’ from Incy Interiors has an adorable rounded edge with beautiful spindle rails and a detailed surround. Incy also have a large range of gorgeous cots including the rose gold metal cot which has been hugely popular over the past couple of years.

Last, but definitely not least is this gorgeous wicker bassinet from Pottery Barn Kids. If you want to replicate a vintage inspired nursery this style is perfect and it also comes in a darker Taupe colour. The mattress comes included in the price and the basket also comes off the base so you can use it as a sleep basket in another room.

Well I hope this list has helped someone discover a new brand or design they may like to purchase for their little love. With so many cots on the Australian market I really did have a hard time narrowing these down. I could have easily listed 20 or more, but I would be writing this blog post for another week haha. One last note before signing off for the day… Make sure to read up and do some research on whichever design you want to buy before making the purchase. A copy of the Australian safety guidelines can be found here.

Have a lovely afternoon and a productive week ahead.

Much Love,

Christian’s Nursery

10.png

Happy Monday!!

Two weeks ago I showed you some snaps of Chet’s room and the response was so amazing. Thank you for stopping by and also commenting on my instagram photos. It was and still is, a work in progress but I think that will always be the case when you work in interiors. Luckily I have other children’s rooms to create magic in and I was over the moon to install Christian’s nursery recently.

This is the second boy’s room I have done for Jemma and Ben, and I honestly could not wish for nicer clients. Jemma- you’re awesome! Thank you for trusting me and never doubting my ideas (and there’s a lot of them.) Anyway, I also created their son Thomas’s toddler bedroom late last year which was featured in the Annual Edition of Minty Magazine. I will blog about it in the coming weeks but if you can’t wait for the post to go live, you can grab a magazine copy here.

When designing this nursery, the idea was to create a soft, cosy space that is versatile enough to become a toddler bedroom in a couple of years time. We also wanted to keep the look of both boy’s bedrooms consistent so we chose Oeuf NYC furniture again. This ensures that the furniture style and colours are the same in both rooms, however the individual pieces are different.

7 copy.png

We started from scratch and the only thing Jemma had already purchased for the room was the Moln Clouds wallpaper. This was music to my ears because I have seen it in person (in my friend’s little girl’s nursery) and it’s so dreamy. We wanted to stick to a fairly neutral colour palette but also bring in warmth by adding beige and taupe alongside the grey. I used lots of textured pieces like the Jujo Baby blankets and Hides of Excellence hide to create lush layers, which added to the cosy look we wanted to achieve.

One thing Jemma really wanted to incorporate into the room was a rocking chair. You can’t go past the quality and versatility of a Hobbe rocking chair, so we locked this firmly in as one of our first purchases. The grey upholstery works perfectly back with the wallpaper, where the white legs suit the timber finish of the cot, framed artwork and dresser. If you’re looking for a comfortable and well crafted nursing chair, this rocker is definitely worth looking at.

I am really happy with the way Christian’s nursery turned out and more importantly Jemma and the family love it. It makes my job even more satisfying knowing it is exactly what my client’s dreamed of. I suppose I should show you some more images and start listing all my fabulous suppliers. I hope you have a lovely week!

Much Love,
