Master Bedroom Refresh

4.pnglinebreakHi everyone,

Here in Perth we had a tonne of rain and stormy weather over the weekend so I thought it would be the perfect time to show you my new cosy bedding from the Adairs Autumn Colour Romance Collection.

I’m beyond excited to be partnering with Adairs this year and styling various seasonal looks over the next 12 months. I was also lucky enough to fly to Melbourne for the Autumn Colour Romance Launch in March. I got to view all of the new season product in person and meet some incredibly talented women who I will be working alongside this year.

My starting point was the Winter Romance Cushion. This cushion caught my eye first because it has a range of beautiful colours that I can draw from to build layers and create a cosy bed, ready for the cooler months approaching. I then chose the Malta quilt and european pillowcases in sage because it has a subtle quilted texture and it ties back with the leaves in the romance cushion perfectly. I also find sage really easy to style with other colours. It looks nice with blush, rose, light grey, plum, burgundy, white etc so it can be restyled for future looks in a new palette.

linebreak2linebreak

Tip: When styling a bed, I usually buy the quilt cover and euros in the same style… Pair one standard pillowcase set with the sheets and the other standard set with whatever colour you have in the surrounding space. It ensures everything looks balanced and visually pleasing.

So abiding by my own little personal rule above, I selected the sheets and standard pillowcases next. I chose the Stonewashed Cotton Silver sheets and one pillowcase pair, then another set of standard pillowcases in the Vintage Wash Prune colour. Moving down to the throws, I chose the Himalayan Fur Blanket in Zinc and the Malmo Linen throw in Rose to layer together at the end of the bed. They not only add warmth and texture to the space but also tie in the dusty rose and warm grey elements in other areas of the room.

Lastly, I bought the Marmaris bedside tables to match the rest of my furniture. They’re a really nice sturdy bedside and I love the warmth of the timber. I’m also a big fan of the open bookshelf because I like having a place next to the bed to house a few magazines and books.

Well, that’s my AW18 look complete! I can’t wait to snuggle into this bedding during winter and enjoy the ‘fresh linen feels.’ Scroll down to shop the look and bag yourself a bargain in the current Adairs Autumn sale.

Much Love,

T x

Homebuyers Girl’s Room

homebuyersGIRLS.png

Hey everyone,

First of all I wanted to thank you for all the love and messages on my previous post. It was really comforting knowing other women could relate in one way or another. So thank you, I was heart warmed by each comment and private message.

Today I’m going to share some really cute images from the girl’s bedroom I recently completed in the Homebuyers Centre ‘Norfolk’ display home. This room is super sweet and if you’re in Perth you can check it out in person at 4 Quinn Street (off Farrell Road) in Midvale. The opening hours are:

Monday and Wednesday 2pm – 5pm

Saturday and Sunday 12pm – 5pm

It’s a beautiful 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom home design, with an open plan living area, theatre, kid’s zone and large alfresco area. I have kept the furniture and decor selections light and bright with a fairly neutral colour palette and the occasional pop of blush. If you want some inspiration or are looking at building your first home, head over to Homebuyers Centre for all the details on how you could receive an interior styling consult with me. Whoooop!

The girl’s bedroom is probably one of my favourite rooms because I love the blush, white and soft blue colour palette. The warm and cool tones work beautifully together and it creates something different, in comparison to the very popular blush and white scheme for a little girl. I will admit the soft blue product is quite hard to find so I will upload a ‘Shop the Look’ concept further down, with easy shopping links so you can find a majority of the product I have used. If something is sold out online, you may want to contact the store directly and see if it’s in stock somewhere close by because this job was bought and installed only a month ago (sometimes online sells out quicker than in store.)

Often I get asked where I ‘start’ when designing/styling a kid’s room and usually my answer is the art or wallpaper. In this case it was the Sara Winfield art but I also wanted a subtle wallpaper that didn’t take away from the print. I locked in a neutral star wallpaper from Wall Candy (in Perth) but the next step was to find a couple of other prints that complimented the Sara artwork nicely. I approached Little Design Haus to customise her ‘Scandinavian Flowers’ set, changing out the grey for blue. I adore the finished product and they work beautifully opposite the Sara art. From there, I hunted for blush and soft blue decor/bedding to create balance in this magical little space.

I also wanted to hang a canopy off center to create interest and fill the wall space a little more. I decided to break away from the usual brand I use and try a Spinkie Baby design. Oh my gosh, it’s so soft and pretty. Perfect if you’re wanting to create a dreamy girl’s bedroom or play area. You can choose either a gold or silver crown, or leave it off completely, so it’s quite a versatile styling piece. The Australian stockist is listed further down in the ‘Shop the Look’ section.

To keep costs down and work within my allocated budget I used affordable furniture and focused on spending more on cute decor/ styling pieces. The desk is from Adairs and the bed is from Fantastic Furniture (links below) so I thought these were great little finds that really helped me stay within my fairly tight budget. By watching what I spent on the large ticket items, I was able to buy some cool books from Jack and Willow as well as some gorgeous bedding from various stores below.

Well I better get linking all the product because it will be fairly long. If you have any questions or if I have left something out, feel free to comment below and I’ll answer asap 🙂 Oh and make sure if you’re in Perth you go check it out in person.

Much Love,

T xx

20 of the Prettiest Floral Prints

jenniblog.png

Happy Friday everyone!

I hope you had a lovely week and are looking forward to the weekend as much as I am!

With spring fast approaching, I want to show you a collection of beautiful floral prints that I recently put together. I find artwork is one of the easiest ways to change the look of a room, and with so many on the market you can find some great, affordable designs. I have tried to showcase a wide range of colours, styles and stores in hope that something will catch your eye. A special mention to Jenni for taking my original list from 15 prints to 20 lol!!

In my selections (as always) I have chosen budget friendly options as well as limited edition pieces, that are more expensive. I know that it’s not always realistic to buy new art/homewares every season but flowers are a versatile subject matter that are certainly not limited to spring styling. To make everything that tiny bit easier, I will also list a bunch of my favourite ready made poster frames, as well as a few framing professionals further down. Enjoy!

Lastly, I get asked a lot where I buy my poster frames from so I will list a few places for you to check out. For the expensive pieces of art that I own, I get them framed at Arts Edge in Joondalup. If you’re in central Perth Gallery 360 in Subiaco are great too. If you’re based in the eastern states, Kara at Forman Picture Framing is your go to lady. If you want a ready made frame, the following stores are where I look first.

‘Frame Depot’ poster frames at Spotlight are probably my fave, especially the timber one in 50x70cm. I don’t know if it has proper glass but it’s not the plastic stuff that distorts the look of your prints. It’s thick like glass but not as heavy (so clueless sorry.) Shop here.

Officeworks have great frames in a tonne of different colours, sizes and frame thicknesses. I know some of the frames they stock are glass (I’ve smashed my fair share of them) but it’s probably best to choose one in person because I can’t remember the brand I bought sorry. Shop here.

Norsu Interiors have a gorgeous range of poster frames and the larger sizes have a string already attached. Gosh a string makes things so much easier to hang!!! Shop here.

Ummm, who else…Country road have some elegant/ streamline frames that I obsess over and they also have a video on ‘How to hang a Frame Wall’ if you’re stuck on gallery wall positioning.  Shop here.

Then of course you have kmart, target, freedom furniture and general discount stores that also stock affordable frames to hang your new artwork in.

Well I hope for anyone still reading, this post has been both eye candy and informative at the same time. I can’t wait to see more floral prints popping up in my feed soon with Spring quickly heading our way. If you have any questions please fire away and I’ll respond as soon as I can 🙂 Have a fab weekend.

Much Love,

Repainted FROSTA Stools

Chet's Desk Blog.png

Happy Thursday everyone!

Today we were supposed to go and catch up with some awesome Perth girls but Chet woke up with a sore ear so we stayed home and got our craft on instead. We repainted the FROSTA stools from Ikea for Chet’s little desk area and they look soooo cute! They instantly brighten up this corner and tie everything together.

I didn’t take any progress shots (sorry) because I wasn’t expecting them to turn out nicely BUT they look so much cooler than I thought they would. Thinking back now I probably should have primed them but they still turned out beautifully… and I’m not a DIY guru so I can’t tell the difference. I literally just wiped them down and painted straight over the top and they look (and feel) fine.

linebreak

Here is a list of what we used, including the paint colours:

Paint Sample Pots || Dark Teal || Light Sage

Sample Pot Roller || Click Here

38mm Angled Paint Brush || Shop Here

linebreak

Here’s how we painted them:

I stood the legs on four mugs so it was easier to paint the bottom of the legs. I used the paint brush to do one leg at a time. I roughly covered it in paint and then put another layer on with the mini roller (to get a smoother finish.) The angled brush helps you paint the underneath side of the legs much better.

I did all four legs, then flipped it over and painted the underneath. I didn’t roll this part.

I then stood the stool back on the mugs while I painted the top and rim with the brush, then the roller (like I did with the legs.)

I waited an hour for them to dry and then repeated the process once more.

linebreak

There you go, super easy and as I said above, I’m not a DIY genius so I didn’t bother priming them. If you want them to last longer it’s probably a good idea to prime them before painting.

Anyway, while I was painting those two stools, Chet was decorating a miniature one I bought him. I actually love it. He’s done such a great job for an ‘almost’ three year old.

What do you think? Do you love the blue tones? More importantly has Chet done a better job than me? Haha I agree! His has personality and sentimental value.

Much Love,

Thomas’s Toddler Bedroom

2

Happy weekend everyone,

I’m excited to finally give you a room tour of Thomas’s toddler bedroom today. I designed, installed and styled this fun-filled space for Thomas late last year and I have been itching to show you some more images. I have waited a little while to pop this room up on the blog because it is featured in the printed annual edition of Minty Magazine . Now you can see it either right here, or in print on the Minty Magazine website.

Jemma and Ben contacted me in August last year to design a beautiful Toddler Bedroom for Thomas, to celebrate becoming a big brother. They also wanted to make it an opportunity to transition him into the newly renovated two story home and a ‘big boy bed.’ In addition we also recently completed Christian’s Nursery (who is Thomas’s baby brother) that you can find on my blog here.

Yes I know you’re all probably thinking, “the wallpaper is the same as Chet’s,” but I actually specified and installed it in Thomas’s room first. I loved it so much in here that I ordered some for Chet’s room a few months later. Thankfully Jemma didn’t mind and we still remain buddies haha 😉

Below are the before images of what the room looked like when Jemma contacted me.

We wanted to keep both of the boy’s rooms consistent so we used Oeuf NYC Furniture from Urban Baby Shop. I specified the Oeuf Perch Toddler Bed because Thomas was still in a Cot and it is ‘Cot Size’ not ‘Single Size’ to ensure the smoothest transition possible. Another pro was that the front rail adds extra security without compromising the look of the overall design. The room has a huge built in wardrobe so a dresser wasn’t necessary. Instead, I chose the Oeuf Mini Library because in our initial meeting Jemma said, “Thomas has lots of books and toys,”- Perfecto!

As an alternative to using a traditional rectangle rug, I chose a gorgeous, plush Triple Icelandic Sheepskin from Hides Of Excellence. It fits the space perfectly and ties back with the texture of the Baby Alpaca Artwork. It also creates a cosy area on the floor where Thomas can play and read whenever he wants.

*Please note* when decorating nurseries you need to read through the SIDS guidelines first and be mindful of putting wool/ natural fibers in a baby’s room. Thomas is 2 years old so this rug is a beautiful (and safe) addition to his new room.

5

I adore how the colours work so well with each other in this room. The floor cushion works back beautifully with the bedding and the leather cushion is the perfect compliment to the alpaca artwork. If you don’t want to follow a generic theme (like in Thomas and Chet’s room) try and choose a consistent colour palette so the room has unity. Sticking to fairly neutral palette with pops of colour will ensure that the room looks fun and inviting but also has a tonne of versatility for years to come.

Well I hope you like Thomas’s Toddler Bedroom as much as we do and sorry it took a while to upload to the blog! I was so excited about seeing it in print that I forgot to post sooner. Stay tuned for another three gorgeous boy’s bedrooms coming soon, alongside three girl’s bedrooms eek!!

If you would like me to create a dream space for your little love, please feel free to contact me via email here.  If you would like to view the suppliers please keep scrolling to the end of this post.

Have a relaxing weekend.

Much Love

Cute Corner

kidostoreblog.png

Happy Friday everyone!

Just a really quick entry for this afternoon because I don’t want to spam you with a novel caption on Instagram haha. Today, I created a really sweet corner in my living room for Chet, where he can play, craft and not fall asleep haha. Yes I said “not” (am I insane?) I’ll let you know why below- it won’t be long I promise.

Our home is a 4×2 however it’s not overly big at all. It’s just a nice small home we can enjoy as a family, until we build again one day. I have thought about creating a playroom in my study (which is the 4th room) but I know he wouldn’t use it because he likes being able to see me. He won’t even play outside unless I am with him and that’s totally fine. He’s still little and I love that he wants to ‘hang’ around me because I know it won’t last forever. Recently I have been sticking him in front of the TV in the theatre room while I cook dinner at 5:30 but this week it has been backfiring on me.

Chet doesn’t have a nap anymore… He will refuse a day nap for hours and the only way he’ll ever fall asleep is in the car orrrrr…. at 5:30 when I’m cooking dinner eep. Everyone knows that there is no happy ending to your toddler having a 5:30pm nap. Lol! This is why I have created a little space where Chet can craft, play and watch the ipad while I’m cooking. The kitchen, dining and living room are open plan so I can keep an eye on him and make sure he’s not drawing on any of the furniture haha.

I will let you know how it goes but I hope he loves it because I spent so much on textas, pencils, crayons, coloured card, scrapbooks and glue today. The gorgeous desk is from Kido Store and the little holders are removable so they can be placed wherever you like. It’s seriously cool! You can view it here.

Anyway, that’s my back-story! I’ll take some more pictures soon but I won’t ramble anymore because it’s the weekendddd! Have a great one!!

Much Love
