With winter fast approaching and all of this gloomy Perth weather, I thought it was time for a little freshen up of our guest bedroom. Nothing major, just some new linen, cushions, side table, lamp, art… okay actually it was most things besides the bed. I stuck to my signature grey and white colour palette because I find neutrals really easy to style in our home. It has a cool, crisp vibe, yet still feels cosy and inviting.
Below you can shop the look and see how I have decorated with a mixture of luxury and budget items to create a fresh new space. As a stylist it is important to me that I find a balance between inexpensive products and high ticket items because I re decorate a lot to show case seasonal trends.
We’ll start with Target Australia. I shopped up a storm in their store last week and found some amazing product which are on trend and an absolute bargain.
Washed Cotton Quilt Set- $59.00
Wood and Metal Lamp- $49.00
Fish Bowl Vase- $10.00
Square Felt Cushion- $15.00
The beautiful hand-made concrete table is from Poppet and Button. Paige was really helpful when customising the paint work for me and I am super pleased with the outcome. If you fancy this particular design just let Paige know to paint it like @oh.eight.oh.nine’s when ordering- she’ll know exactly what to do.
I love the raw texture of this piece and how it ties back into our linen colours. I couldn’t have asked for a better match.
Concrete Side Table- $100.00 – http://poppetandbutton.com.au/
I had a luscious custom weaving made by Maisie (who is the creator behind Maypole Design) to hang in our guest bedroom. Pictures do not even do this gorgeous woolly wonder justice. At just 16 years old, Maisie has talent way beyond her years and is no doubt destined for great things in the future.
I chose a neutral, chunky weave to compliment the tones of the room and add texture to an otherwise flat wall.
Woollen Wall Hanging- $200.00 – http://maypoledesign.weebly.com/
When decorating the guest bed I used natural fibres like wool and linen to layer over the quilt and create a cosy look. I love using chunky knits especially in the cooler months- they look and feel amazing! My newest throw addition is this Cable Knit stunner from Florence and Harper. I already have the grey one and loved it so much I got the natural colour as well. To finish off the bed I chose a pair of Egyptian Cotton Sheets from NeueBlvd and a couple of cushions from some of my favourite insta stores The Dusty Poppy and Onyx and Smoke.
Styling Tip- I generally style cushions following my 1 pattern, 1 texture, 1 plain rule. In my opinion the colours should be shades/ tones of the surrounding space that compliment each other. This will give a unified overall look to whichever room you are decorating.

Queen Fitted and Flat Sheet 100% Luxury Egyptian Cotton- $285.00 – http://www.neueblvd.com.au/

Looks gorgeous & very welcoming. Can I ask about the curtains? Where are they from & the thickness / sheerness of them? Trying to find something like these.

Hey Lois. They’re the tab top 100% cotton ones from IKEA. They are a thick cotton (not sheer) so they don’t let as much sun in as general curtains x
